Inter-racial Labor Solidarity

The farmworker movement of the 20th century embodies the cooperative struggle between racialized minority groups. Different ethnic communities banded together to improve wages and work conditions for farmworkers across the nation. Although hailed as a Filipino-Latino victory, the Delano Grape Strikes and the farmworker movement featured a diverse array of organizers and supporters, from college student groups to nationalist organizations.

This exhibit focuses on the multi-racial history of the farmworker movement, from early Filipino-Mexican relations in Central California to the signing of the Agricultural Labor Relations Act of 1975.
